Tanzania bara ilisherehekea miaka 50 ya uhuru wake kutoka kwa Waingereza tarehe 9 Desemba, 2013. Zamani ikiitwa Tanganyika, baayae iliungana na visiwa vya Zanzibar tarehe 26 April, 1964 kutengeneza nchi inayoitwa Tanzania.
Katika kusheherekea miaka 52 ya uhuru, watumiaji kadhaa wa mtandao wa Twita walitumia alama ishara ya #52ThingsAboutTanzania (yaani #Mambo 52KuhusuTanzania) kushirikishana takwimu na uhalisia kuhusu nchi yao:
